One of the most common reasons that people hesitate to investigate professional hearing care is that they don’t know anyone else who has hearing aids or got their hearing assessed.
It makes sense that without someone’s advice to lean on, one might be reluctant to take that first step on their hearing health journey alone. If that sounds like you, or someone you know, then don’t worry – we’re here with you to help.
We make a point to ask our patients if they would be open to sharing their stories with us so we can share them with people like you who aren’t sure where to go first. Since many of our patients were once in your shoes, they were happy to be involved and inspire people to seek treatment.
Our first story comes from Risa, who struggled with hearing conversations.
“I realized I might have a hearing problem when I had trouble understanding what was said on TV or in a group,” Risa recalls. “It could be embarrassing.”
At Risa’s first appointment with us, she knew right away that we were ready to help, thanks to our specialized training.
“Now, with my hearing aids, I just feel more confident. If you are considering an appointment with them, know that you are making the right choice.”
Risa rates the experience at Audiology and Hearing Aid Associates as five stars.
Next up is Willy, who was frustrated by tinnitus symptoms and hearing loss challenges.
“About 15 years or so ago, I began noticing that I was having trouble understanding what people were saying, especially in situations like meetings or restaurants.”
Willy remembers asking people to repeat themselves constantly and that his tinnitus was making it hard to get a good night’s sleep. He was irritated and frustrated before visiting our clinic.
“My first impression of Audiology and Hearing Aid Associates was that the facilities were clean, comfortable, and professional and that the staff was friendly and informative.”
Willy’s concerns prior to his first appointment included the cost of hearing aids and what they’d look like, but since getting his hearing aids, he’s much happier being able to hear again.
“Now, I hear normal conversations a lot clearer. I can hear a lot of things outside that I hadn’t noticed before – and I spend a lot of time outdoors. Also, the tinnitus seems to be less noticeable while I am wearing my hearing aids.”
Finally, we have Larry, who was in denial about his hearing loss challenges.
“My wife told me I needed to do something about my poor hearing,” he told us. “I was in denial until I had a hearing test and someone told me that I did have a significant hearing loss and that the loss could result in dementia in the long term; that’s when I realized that I really had to do something.”
Larry’s active lifestyle stopped him from getting hearing care for a long time; he didn’t want hearing aids to get in his way, and he was concerned about costs. Now, with his hearing aids, he encourages anyone to get their hearing checked out.
“As for my new hearing aids, there is no doubt that in some ways they are a pain. However, I can now hear what is going on around me much better and I don’t miss all those funny remarks my grandchildren make! The major thing is that I feel they have helped me to maintain my mental acuity.”
Larry rates his experience with Audiology and Hearing Aid Associates as five stars.
