Phonak Hearing Aids

From the outset, Phonak has been an innovation leader, producing the first portable audio devices in 1950 and the world’s first BTE (behind-the-ear) hearing aid (Phonette) in 1969. In 1979, the company introduced the audio input technology that would become the foundation for FM devices.

Phonak also developed PICS, the first digitally programmed hearing aid with an analogue processor, the AudioZoom multi-microphone concept, and MicroLink, first tiny FM receiver, as well as the first digital hearing system with FM receiver in 1999, and the tiny MLx ear-level FM receiver hearing system in 2000.

Bluetooth integration technology, SmartLink (2003), became the foundation for the development of bionic systems like Binaural VoiceStream Technology capable of improving sound distinction by up to 45% in challenging noise environments.

Following the development of water-resistant housings in 2008, Phonak used nano-digital technology in order to develop the world’s only extended wear hearing aid product.
